Join our book club and read along with us both in salon and at home! Our inspirations for this Spring season xx

At Crysalis, we draw inspiration from many places - but books hold a special place in our hearts. As magazines begin to make their way back into salons, we decided to take a different approach and provide our guests with a carefully curated, beautifully written and designed selection of books each season to read during your appointment... and to take home with you if you fall as in love with them as we have!

The Flower School // by joseph Massie

You may notice if you’ve ever stepped through the doors of our beloved terrace on King Street that the Crysalis beauties are obsessed with florals! We draw great inspiration from the seasons and for Spring we couldn’t ignore this incredible guide by Joseph Massie.

The Flower School takes you by the hand and expertly guides you through the elements, principles and theory of floral design. The 25 step-by-step projects will empower you to create your own gorgeous floral arrangements for your home, gatherings, celebrations and for pleasure.

AL FRESCO // by julie pointer adams

Al Fresco is an ode to living and gathering in nature. A picnic on the beach. Cocktails and a snack at sunset. Sharing a potluck meal around the fire, and letting the night drift lazily along in the pleasures of roasting marshmallows and swapping stories. Getting together in nature, with food and drink, is among the most restorative rituals we can experience, fostering a king of intimacy and ease that’s rare in any other setting.

Al Fresco, with its fresh, delicious recipes and unexpected ideas, its tips for exploring new ways to get outdoors, its interviews with dozens of kindred spirits, is an inspiring and beautiful playbook for anyone who wants to spend more time outside with friends and family. The credo is simple: Nature opens us up to ourselves, and the food we share opens us up to each other.

BITTER HONEY // by letitia clark

To cook like a Sardinian, you have to eat like a Sardinian. Cooking here reflects life: it is a slow and relaxed affair. In Bitter Honey, seasoned chef Letitia Clark invites us into her home on this beautiful island - a part of Italy, but in a world of its own - and showcases the local ingredients through simple but stand-out recipes. You’ll find everything from aperitivo bites such as Bottarga pâté and Roasted pecorino with walnuts and honey, to the islands iconic pastas - Malloreddus with sausage and tomato sauce and Fregola with fennel and clams - sensational dolce, including a boozy Tiramisu, and luscious Gelato made with olive oil and aromatic Seville orange zest.

As any Sardinian will tell you, life is for living, and food is for eating. Letitia’s recipes capture time-honoured traditions and a passion for produce that, together, build a picture of the island and joyful anecdotes throughout, this is an imagined holiday, a cookbook and a captivating food and travel journal all rolled into one.

A HOUSE PARTY IN TUSCANY // by amber guinness

Art meets food in this sublime celebration of thirty years of cooking and hosting at The Arniano Painting School in Tuscany. There are many farmhouses in Tuscany, but few are quite so magical as Arniano. It is here, in this 18th-century podere, that Amber Guinness grew up and learned to cook. And it is here that she established the Arniano Painting School, a residential painting course and immersive art and food experience. Filled with recipes for classic dishes and cocktails, feast curation, seasonal menu suggestions and notes on an Italian pantry and wines, A House Party in Tuscany will transport you to the Tuscan countryside and bring the conviviality of Arniano to your table.
