Welcome .

The rituals that make us

Welcome to the rituals that inspire and create our salon space. From the moment you arrive at Crysalis King Street, we want to transport our guests on a beautiful journey of self.

Welcome to our space.

Before we open our doors each day for our beloved guests, we begin the day with our first ritual

Cleansing our Space

Smudging (the burning of incense, herbs, resin, or woods) is an ancient tradition practiced by Native Americans, and similar iterations can be found throughout history from all periods and walks of life. The chosen Guardian of our space, Palo Santo (translating literally to Holy Wood) is burned throughout the salon each morning to cleanse, purify and dispel negative energies.

We use this as a moment to set our daily intentions within our four walls, as well as an opportunity to step into inspiration and mindfulness.

When you arrive for your appointment with us, we ask you to take a moment with us to relax, be present, and invite you into our space.

Breathing Ritual.

With the help of our adored “garden in a bottle”, Oway Flowerfall, we welcome you to close your eyes and take Three. Deep. Breaths.

Inspired by Ayurvedic methods, we massage from your temples, ears, neck, and shoulders to help you relax into your parasympathetic nervous system, restoring your body to a calm and composed state and leaving the rest of your day at the door.

Oway Flowerfall, the hero of this ritual, is a 98% plant-based distillate. The ingredients are grown on Oway's biodynamic farm in the hills of Bologna, Italy. The floral notes of ylang-ylang, rose, verbena, and lavender combined with the zest of orange, bergamot, and lime seek to inspire a moment of tranquillity and calm. With powerful properties promoting anti-aging and the reduction of oxidative stress, this aromatherapy blend will serve to uplift the senses and the soul.

Once you have enjoyed your selection from our seasonal refreshment offering, we will deliver you the next installment:

Wellness Ritual.

Influenced by the time-honoured traditional Japanese Tea Ceremony (cha-no-yu - “hot-water tea” or Japanese chadō or sadō - “way of tea”), we have crafted a sampling tray of wholistic goodies to inspire you to take a moment of quietude and tranquillity.

First, we ask you to cleanse yourself with our econapkin. Also influenced by the Japanese ritual Oshibori (translating to "hot towel"), place your econapkin into the anti-microbial blend of lavender, rosemary, and tea tree essential oils and allow the napkin to absorb and expand to its intended size. Unfold your econapkin and apply it to the hands, neck, and face to reinvigorate, revitalise and refresh.

Then, we invite you to sip on our monthly ritual Mayde Tea, carefully curated based on seasonal ingredients and flavours. Along with a sampling of our Mukti Bioactive Collagen Booster, boasting a rich palate of wild berries plus enormous skincare, gut health, and wellness benefits. Both Mayde Tea and Mukti are ethical Australian boutique brands that place a particular emphasis on organic and botanical locally sourced ingredients, with a particular appreciation for Australia's large selection of powerful and potent native flora.

You will be drinking your tea from hand-made ceramics from Made in Japan, a small family-run Japanese business that's focus lies on beautiful craftsmanship, with a particular weight on environmentally friendly business practice and minimal packaging.

While you appreciate your tea, the opportunity to further your well-being awaits with our Wellness Card, chosen for you from our selection created by the internationally acclaimed nutritional biochemist and ever-wonderful author Dr. Libby Weaver. Designed to both educate and inspire, you will receive a card focusing on either nutritional, biochemical, or emotional wellness, offering you an opportunity to pause and guide you toward a balanced and uplifted psyche.

During your appointment, one of our Crysalis beauties will approach you to present you with our final and one of our most important rituals:

Nurturing Ritual.

We recognise that as people, we all receive nurture in completely different and individual ways, which is why we have included three different nourishing options for you to leave feeling the most fabulous version of yourself.

Healing Hands Ritual is assisted by Oway's Velvet Body Fluid, a moisturiser rich in vitamin C, Omegas 3 and 9, and essential fatty acids that aids in anti-aging, the reduction of redness and blemishes, deeply hydrating the skin, and stimulating the skin's lipid barrier rebuilding process. Our hand massage serves to offer you the ultimate relaxation and you may request this either in the chair or while you are having our Basin Ritual Treatment.

Naked Face Ritual, is a moment for you to address any skincare concerns you may be experiencing and receive our expert advice and application to assist you on all fronts. We believe that skincare should be simple, down to routine, products, and ingredients. Our team have all completed extensive training with our Mukti range and are more than happy to help with any queries you may have.

Made-Up Face Ritual, is an opportunity for you to indulge in some pure pampering and leave feeling ready to enter the world looking and feeling absolutely magical. With the support of Ere Perez's line of Australian botanical makeup, we aspire to help you find your perfect lipstick colour, your ultimate foundation match, and give tutorials on any techniques that may be missing from your mental makeup library.

We look forward to welcoming you to our salon home and personally introducing you to The Rituals that Make Us. Daily rituals, no matter how seemingly small and insignificant, can greatly impact all aspects of our lives. Providing structure and routine, as well as simple self-care and wellness principles and foundations to your day-to-day, we practice rituals as a small offering to ourselves and our guests to support us through our journey to further wellbeing.
